Serbian Spruce Seedling Plugs
(Picea omorika)
Many in the green industry consider the Serbian Spruce the most beautiful ornamental spruce, period. (webmaster's note: I have one in my own front yard, and I agree wholeheartedly). The Serbian features short, soft, dark green needles with silver undersides revealed by a slight breeze. The Serbian features beautiful purple cones and a visually pleasing conical shape.
Serbian Spruce are fairly fast-growing, do well in full sun, and reach a height of up to 60 feet with a spread of 20 feet or more at the base. They should not be planted out in the open where winterburn can affect them (again, your webmaster lives in a very wintry, windy location and has seen no adverse effects).
Serbian Spruce prefer richer soils, but generally do well in sandier soils if properly watered, and are somewhat resistant to drought. Few natural pests or diseases affect Serbians other than Pine Weevil, which if discovered, is easily controlled with over the counter insecticides.
Estimated height: 4-10 inches - height does not include roots [?]
