Fraser Fir are commonly misspelled as Frazer Fir, Frasier Fir, Fraser Fur, Frazier Fir, etc.\u00a0When mature, Fraser Fir reach to a maximum height of 80 feet, and will flourish in fertile, moist & sandy soils which are slightly acidic. It is important for the planting area to have good drainage, or root diseases can take hold.<\/p>\n

Fraser Fir are fairly tolerant of shade, but tend to prefer full sun. A good rule of thumb is to plant them from Tennessee north, but you can also plant them in more southerly areas if at higher elevation.\u00a0The Fraser Fir is the only species native to the Great Smoky Mountains, and is so similar to the Balsam Fir that scientists believe that not too long ago they were one and the same.<\/i><\/p>\n
